We were asked to create a 60-second animation for the launch of Vogue Scandinavia, following the sustainability journey of the magazine. Inspired by the celebrated Swedish artist of Hilna af Klint and Vogue Scandinavia’s inaugural cover design which features environmental activist, Greta Thunberg. This successful collaboration included the vision and sumptuous artwork by illustrator Charlotte Smith, combined with Peter Belsky’s intuitive and skillful animation design, and Jeremiah Bornfeld instrumental as the final touch.

Vogue Scandinavia aspires to become the most sustainable media organization in existence. Their endless appreciation and love of nature shapes everything they do, so, naturally, it was their first priority to ensure that in producing their magazine, they try to leave no footprint on this planet.

While they appreciate that no print publication can ever be completely sustainable, they have taken every measure to ensure the materials they use and the 450 tonnes of carbon dioxide that they offset over the course of their first year leaves the lowest impact possible on our planet.

“Our goal is to give back more than we consume, to become carbon negative throughout our whole value chain,” says Mariann Jacobsson, Vogue Scandinavia’s head of sustainability. “We hope to inspire our stakeholders, industry colleagues, and our loyal readers to make small changes for good. A small step made by many people creates a movement, and we are proud to be leading this movement in our industry.”
